This week on the Y’all Be Good Podcast, we're handing the microphones over to the next generation!
It all started when Ralf's son joined a summer school class at Lance Middle School with a pretty unique assignment: instead of writing a traditional report, the students were going to research topics they cared about and turn what they learned into their very own podcasts.
When the teachers found out that Ralf and Heather had a podcast of their own, they invited them into the classroom to help the students get comfortable behind the microphone before it was time to record the real thing.
And let's just say... putting microphones in front of a classroom full of middle-schoolers went about as smoothly as you'd expect.
There were plenty of laughs and a little bit of chaos, but along the way, we got to meet some incredible kids and hear about their interests, personalities, and passions.
After our visit, the students took what they'd learned and, with the help of the Kenosha Public Library, recorded podcasts of their own.
In this special episode, you'll hear some moments from our time in the classroom along with pieces of what the students went on to create.
It's an old-school assignment with a new-school twist—and a great reminder of what can happen when we give young people the tools, confidence, and opportunity to share their own voices.
